Rydges Armidale

Love my stay at The Rydges Armidale, close to the city centre. Room and bathroom were spacious and well equipped. Microwave in room also , for heating up food if you didn't want to eat out. I loved that there was a washing machine at the hotel too. Staff were so helpful and friendly

It has a basic gym which is handy Most importantly it has a first class restaurant that runs as the breakfast venue. Free continental breaky which is upgradeable to a hot buffet for a small fee . Nice rooms. THE best shower ever . Genuine 4 star . Buggered if I know what 4.5 is . I know what 5 star is . Certainly one of the best in Armidale. Not expensive either .

As others have said, the rooms and decor are dated. I saw this on the photos before booking and it didn't matter as long as the place was clean and in good order. We stayed here twice on our way and again on the return home. Unfortunately, the stay was sub par. On our first night, the shower was leaking and pouring out water from the tap and the carpet looked decades old and stained. The second stay, in a different room, also had the old stained carpet, but in addition, there was boogies on the wall, the coffee machine with the much lauded free pods didn't work, the towel rack in the bath room was falling off the wall, the exhaust fan in the shower didn't work and the white bed sheets had footprints and what looked like a drop of blood on them. To top it off, the second bedroom had curtains, but the window had been boarded up! There were no other windows in the room and it felt akin to a large cupboard or prison cell... Upon checkout, which we got out of there early because it was gross, the main issues were raised with staff who's response was 'Thanks for letting us know.' and felt like they really didn't care. We won't be staying here again. It felt like it was being run on the cheap.
