Long drive 4.45 hr from Melb. Free entry. You pay $10 for Tobogin slope. Has DP hut which is a heated modern indoor small space with power points, flush toilet and BBQ, cleaned daily in winter approx 9am.
Beautiful place. We stayed in the 'Camelot' a 3 storey house on the King's Birthday weekend on the opening of the snow season, and didn't it snow. I liked the location and the set up of the house. The beds were comfy, the dining and lounge areas were cosy once the heating warmed the house. There was plenty of parking for our cars albeit they were snowed in by Sunday. I would have liked a sandwich press and coffee machine in the house included with all the other pots and pans. Otherwise it was lovely. Please be careful and take your time on the roads when it snows, because the roads are windy and very slippery. The sides of the roads drop into the trees and valley below.
We went up during snow season and had a great time overall, but there were a few issues worth mentioning. The main one was the heater. It didn’t work at all when we arrived, and we had to get someone to come out and fix it. That was pretty frustrating, especially considering it was snow season and freezing. Other than that, the place was mostly as described. It was comfortable once the heating was sorted and in a good spot for the snow. Just would’ve been better if everything worked from the start.
