The hotel is wonderful, and I truly hope the upcoming renovations still capture the cozy and historic feel it currently offers. It’s clear that construction is underway, but that’s no reflection on the hotel itself — the workers onsite are not hotel staff, just there to do their job, and they’ve all been very friendly and professional. Especially the scaffolding crew outside - very pleasant. The only disappointment was our dinner at Primrose, but I believe that’s separate of the hotel. Overall, despite the renovations, the hotel remains beautiful, and the staff clearly take great pride in their work. It has been a memorable and enjoyable stay, and I look forward to returning once the renovations are complete.

We stayed at the Rimrock on the August long weekend and had a fabulous visit. I was slightly worried with the negative reviews that I had read. Parking was easy. Yes it is $36 but space is a premium and it was easy to access in and out. The front desk staff were awesome and our room was upgraded due it being our anniversary. Our room had magnificent views of the Bow River and the Banff Springs Hotel. We had a seating area, fridge and a jetted tub. There was a lovely cake in the fridge for our anniversary as well as some lovely treats as Accor members. The bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and deck area. There was a free little library which has some good picks and the coffee shop had some cute little treats. The hotel will be closing in less than two months for renovations. No doubt that the renovations will be stunning but our stay was absolutely perfect just the way the hotel currently is. I have separate reviews of the two restaurants we tried which were absolutely delicious. We look forward to coming back in 2026.

A Stay with a View, But Value Questions Lingered Our recent stay certainly delivered on the promise of a breathtaking location. The mountain views from the hotel are truly unparalleled and provided a stunning backdrop to our trip. However, after experiencing all that the hotel has to offer, we found ourselves questioning the overall value for the price. While advertised amenities like the pool were present, the pool itself was quite compact, and the jacuzzi seemed to primarily circulate water rather than offer a relaxing experience. Our room also presented a few challenges; for instance, the room itself felt a bit worn. Getting around proved challenging. The hotel's proximity to attractions meant relying on the transit bus, which, unfortunately, was consistently overcrowded with no seating available during our trips. Walking to Banff downtown wasn't a practical alternative due to the lack of sidewalks, making pedestrian access unsafe. Service experience from the staff was mixed; some team members were genuinely friendly and helpful, while others were less engaging. Dining options within the hotel were convenient due to the remote location, but the restaurant prices felt quite steep, especially given the lack of alternative eateries nearby, and the menu itself had very limited options. In conclusion, while the incredible location is undeniably a major draw, we ultimately struggled to recommend without reservations, primarily due to the perceived value for money when considering the amenities, the condition of the room, the limited dining choices, and the logistical challenges of getting around.
