My daughter and I had a lovely stay at Touchstone. We enjoyed a two bedroom unit with full kitchen which was well-supplied and the view of Lake Muskoka was gorgeous. We hit the beach for some kayaking, the swimming dock to jump in the lake and enjoy the tranquility, the pool for lunch and cocktails and the spa for facials and massage. We had a fabulous dinner at Taste, on the patio with live entertainment. The oysters were a standout! The whole meal was wonderful, ending with a shared carrot cake cheesecake to die for! It was a perfect 3 day break and they even provided a beautiful sunset each evening! ;) Thanks Touchstone!
My wife and I spent 2 nights at Touchstone Resort earlier this month. The region, right on Lake Muskoka, is beautiful. This hotel property (calling it a resort is a stretch) is just outside Bracebridge. Our arrival was uneventful, the front desk staff should be more welcoming and engaging. We booked a one bedroom suite, their website says they are 550-650 sq ft, the picture on the web is clearly the largest, ours was maybe 550, but so be it. Bedsheets had rips in them, hand soaps were small motel style with no soap dishes (leaving a messy counter), and the bare minimum of bath towels were provided. They do have 2 pools, 2 very small pools and by our check in there was no space so we headed to the beach. Nice sand, not much shade, however shallow refreshing water. Note, the beach towels they provide are very small, we wish we packed our own. We headed to their restaurant, (they only have one) for a nice dinner, not spectacular, but the staff there were a refreshing change from our first point of contact, all pleasant and personable. You cannot charge the restaurant to your room, odd but whatever. That evening we were back in our room and checking their instagram posts. They had a lovely picture of the beach with several red beach umbrellas. We were there earlier, no umbrellas, so I commented on their post to that effect. My post was immediately removed! Later in our stay they posted a beautiful image of a sunset on their beach, their beach does not get sunsets, or sunrises. Again I posted on their account asking about it and….immediately removed! Their social media, maybe entire marketing, has no integrity! Bottom line, do not believe what they say or show. This is Muskoka so not inexpensive and there is a demand for time and space. I do not recommend you waste your time for space that is priced as premium for relatively modest accommodations and marketed for clearly what it is not.
Not a good experience. It seems part motel, part bad Airbnb. The room itself was fine though the bathroom was definitely motel 6 quality with the tiny soaps to match. No breakfast restaurant, no housekeeping, had to get our own towels and toiletries every day. No towels in the gym. We had a kitchenette and washer dryer which was nice but there was no soap to clean the dishes so I wonder how previous guests cleaned them!! No soap for the washing machine. Had to go out and buy some ourselves. Overall, we chose the resort because we thought it was the best in the area and we were really, really disappointed. Even the grounds weren’t very nice. They were nice from the front but from the back where the so-called activities were, it was really nothing special. All of the hotel staff treated us like we were intruding on their space. Will definitely not be returning, ever.
