We arrived to our booked and paid for hotel opposite only to find it closed down from fire damage 6 weeks prior and we were not notified! We were lucky to find a room at this hotel with friendly service from the woman at the reception who was very helpful in resolving our dilemma. Our room was beautifully appointed and had a cosy ambiance and high quality fittings and very comfy bed. Sometimes in life things turn out ok , as we felt that this hotel was way more upmarket for a smaller extra price so we were very pleased. The other hotel did eventually refund us only because my husband who is German had to contact them to via their website, not because they had decency to refund our money and advise us of their venue being closed due to fire !
Beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of Dinkelsbühl village. The hotel is connected to the Hotel Sonne, which features a beer garden area on the central Weinmarkt. Dinkelsbühl is total highlight of German woodframe building architecture and one of the very few places in Germany that has a fully intact citywall along with gate towers and watch towers and moat/water barriers on the outside. It is stunningly beautiful and absolutely worth a day or two or three eating outside and trying local dishes for every single meal of the day. Dinkelsbühl also hosts the second biggest heavy metal festival of Germany #summerbreeze. If you go there, check out the town. The locals have embraced the black wave and will be eager to welcome you! This includes the staff of the hotel. Super friendly and super helpful! Our room rate and I believe all room rates include breakfast, which was rich, tasty and with lots of variety. Local baked goods were super yummy.
Travelled for two weeks in Germany and stayed in five different hotels during our trip. This hotel was by far the best one we stayed in during our trip. The building itself was very old, but the place was recently remodeled and even still smelled new. The room was tastefully designed and decorated. We were able to find free parking right outside of the hotel. (Free from 5 or 6pm until 9am.) The location was perfect; it was inside of the old city walls and just seconds away from restaurants and shopping. The free breakfast was great and included a variety of juices, breads, cereals, meats, cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, and coffee. Literally my only complaint is that we couldn’t/didn’t stay there longer. We also stayed one night in Rothenburg. If we had to choose between the two locations in the future, we’d stay in Dinkelsbühl, and more specifically this hotel.
