Our first time in Madrid and it’s arranged by a tour operator so our hotels are set. 1881 Madrid is in the Las Ventas area where the famous Plaza de Toros is located, really just a 5 minute walk and so is the Metro or bus stops. Calle de Alcalá goes all the way to the Madrid city centre to Puerta del Sol. So if you want to walk and feeling energized, you’ll reach Plaza del Sol in no time or take the Metro or bus. The rooms are great and the lobby is beautiful, the restaurant is classy and where the buffet breakfast is, definitely enjoy your breakfast here. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, and if you want to take the stairs to your room, the stairs are spacious, just wait for the motion sensors to turn in the lights. So it’s not at the city centre but definitely a great choice.

High level of service. Very friendly and helpful staff.I got the room with blocked windows, they change it for another room immediatly upon request. Reasonable price, good value for money.

Alfonso and Celia deserve 5 stars! They are friendly, helpful, patient, and professional! They both speak English very well. Alfonso was very nice to give us some recommendations in the area. The young lady who works at night could (and should) learn a lot from Alfonso and Celia about customer service and professionalism. Pros: -The hotel is very nice and clean. The room was comfortable. It had AC. It was quiet. -It has a small, but clean, gym. -The hotel seems to be in a good location. -They have a parking garage, but it was an additional $26 for only one night. -It is a short walk from a beautiful bull fighting arena. Plaza de Toros -There’s a nice cafe across the street called Santa Gloria. It was some of the best coffee and cappuccinos we’ve ever had. -There’s a cute restaurant across the way called London Grill. The owner was very personable. They have a big menu and the chicken was good. Cons: -We were NEVER able to connect to the “free wifi.” We tried multiple times, but it would not connect. -in the middle of the night, the TV came on by itself and awakened both of us. -Expensive parking (€23/night) (This would be a reasonable price if you weren’t already paying €185+ for the room alone.) -Expensive breakfast (€18/person) We didn’t eat breakfast there due to the additional cost. Overall, it was a nice stay. We recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
