Nestled on a hill in the fairly quiet suburb of old place lies Abalone lodge with its stunning views overlooking the Knysna lagoon. We stayed for 4 days but definitely was too short as the tranquility of Knysna is absorbing and with so many things to do in and around you are never short of an activity or sight seeing. The lodge is surrounded by lots of trees and bird life around it. You have a TV with cable channels on it for those indoor nights and to keep the kids busy should it rain. Daily room service is one of those feats which make you feel like you are on holiday with that extra time to explore or relax. We had fresh towels daily and we were reassured that any issues we had would be attended to with urgency-it was never really needed as we had no issues. Everything was squeaky clean on arrival and was maintained throughout our stay. Even the pool was sparkling clean and the cold dip went down well on a 37°C day. One thing that would make this place slightly more attractive for me personally would have been a kiddies play park and that would probably give it an edge for families.

What an absolute gem of a place in Knysna. Place is immaculate, clean and staff was very pleasant. These units have everything you need. My kids really loved the place and the pool. Will definitely be returning with my family.

We stayed there for 2 nights in the month of January 2025. The estate is beautiful and well maintained. There is a small manicured pool for some cooling down. View of the lagoon is stunning. A recommended place for a short stay if you are in Knysna.
