This is the most important review I have ever written. Firstly, this resort was family-friendly from the very start. Your bags are handled at the front, and once you check in, you can head to your room that is air-conditioned with a fully stocked fridge, along with a jacuzi tub, shower and beautiful view. From there, you are welcome to check out the pool area, walk the beach, grab some food at one of the many restaurants or you can drop your kids off at a fun little area called the adventure club where qualified staff will keep your kids company with games, food and other things while you can go enjoy your time as adults at the swim-up bar to have a drink. There is plenty of staff walking around the pool asking if you need water/alcohol. There are 4 different pools (2 specifically for kids) and a hot tub, but the weather is so warm that we never needed it. Room service and turn-down service were always good. The nightly events we saw were music, dancing, trivia, bingo, and karaoke. You can plan weddings and reserve private areas. My wife and I had a fantastic massage that we highly recommend. We also enjoyed an amazing tour of Old-town Puerto Vallarta and even got to swim with dolphins and sea lions that the hotel set up for us. Honestly, everything was wonderful. Plus, you can't beat an all-inclusive resort with unlimited food/drinks. However, all of this is not why this is my most important review to me. Without going into details, my son had a personal incident and required a sudden trip to the hospital. We were concerned parents in a foreign country with little comprehension of the local language. When the hotel found out what we were dealing with, they immediately jumped in to assist. Throughout the entire process, they provided rides back and forth to the hospital, they helped us translate with the doctors, they helped us get to the bank to pull pesos out of the ATM, they decorated our room for my son when he got out, they extended our stay at the hotel at no extra charge and gave my son the greatest send-off ever as we left. I will never be able to thank the hotel managers and staff enough for helping with one of the most stressful times of my life as a parent. I am going to recommend this hotel to every person I know and to everyone reading this review. The support we received was better than anything I have ever experienced at a resort. If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta, I encourage you to give this place a try. Thank you to everyone at Dreams Vallarta Bay and Resort.

I was really looking forward to staying at Dreams. I was extremely disappointed for many reasons. Firstly, no one gave us a tour of the resort. We were lost, we did not know where the restaurants or amenities were, they just gave us an app and let us figure it out alone. The room was beautiful, but reeked of mildew despite the dehumidifier. Minibar in room was not stocked. I ended up ordering uber eats for drinks since they were not provided. Kids club does not allow parental supervision therefore you must leave your kids unattended by strangers, no thanks. Outdoor activities which were advertised were closed including the outdoor theatre and rock wall for kids (this was never disclosed). The pool areas not ZERO seating. All taken up, not enough chairs. I paid $450 a night to sit on concrete while at the pool. I was so looking forward to staying at a 5 star resort, I would rate this 1/5. So disappointing. Not worth what I paid for the single night, and they refuse to give even a partial refund for the experience. Horrible.

I am currently staying at Dreams Vallarta Bay with a group of four rooms — two preferred and two regular. Upon arrival, we gave the front desk receptionist around $120 with the understanding that she would give us a good deal on an upgrade. Instead, she took the money and didn’t do squat. The only options she offered were a Presidential Suite Ocean Front Pool for $900/night or another suite for $300/night — neither of which is reasonable for three nights for two people, especially considering it’s not even peak season in Puerto Vallarta. To make it worse, she told us that because two of our rooms are not preferred, we cannot even visit our friends in their preferred suites. The “best” she did was put our two regular rooms a few doors apart, which is not worth the money we gave her. A fair resolution, based on current market conditions, would be: • Preferred upgrade: $100–$150/night • Presidential Suite upgrade: $200/night We gave her money in good faith for a better deal, but instead got nothing in return. We hope management will step in to fix this and make our stay reflect the service Dreams Vallarta Bay is supposed to be known for.
