Absolutely spot on!!!!!! When we arrived from walking the wall we had walked in 3 hours of rain and looked like drowned rats. Sue and Tim have a mud room, a great place to take off all the wet stuff. AND THEY HAVE A DRYING ROOM!!!! Sue and Tim took our wet clothes and dried them for us, took our shoes and dried them for us so the next morning we started off warm and dry. How wonderful that was can only be understood by those who like us had walked the previous day wet and cold. We had a great dinner with them and a full breakfast. The packed lunch we bought from them was exactly what we needed on our walk. Abbey bridge was warm and comfortable - just what we needed.
My husband and I recently stayed at the Abbey Bridge B&B during our walk of Hadrian's Wall. What a charming spot. The historic building was lovely as were the terraced gardens out back. The hosts cooked a tasty dinner for all the guest and packed lunches upon request for the walkers. Out the window of our room we could see a colony of bats going out for the night, pretty cool. We popped into the Lanercost Priory on our way back to the wall in the morning and had it all to ourselves.
A warm welcome and a comfortable room at the end of a long walk. Sue and Terry made us so welcome and provided a delicious meal. We even had warm boots in the morning.
