Abbey Hotel Roscommon

So glad I booked this hotel for our short stay in Roscommon. Charming, efficient staff. Fabulous breakfast. Large airy room (with double & two single beds!), massive bathroom. Good shower. Very comfortable bed. Great view. Couldn't fault it. A family run enterprise, so different from sometimes soulless corporate places. Some décor perhaps a little old-fashioned, but I liked that - there was a homely feel. I wish we'd eaten in the restaurant as the pub food we had was a little disappointing.

Staff were friendly but the facilities were a bit disappointing with the air conditioner not working in some rooms, Virgin wifi not working more than half of the time and no password known by the staff for the alternative connection. Wedding food was great, service was wonderful. I would still recommend for a short stay in the area as the hotel is a short walk from the train station or for a wedding but definitely room for improvement!

Very clean in a nice location. Took a couple of stars off because the food was not up to much. Sent one dinner back (chicken rubbery) but got no satisfaction. Waited a few days before this post in hope they would get back to me. They did not. I do like the hotel but maybe eat elsewhere
