Abeliona Retreat

It was Mother’s Day today so I wanted to take my mother somewhere special for lunch together with Dad. The food we had exceeded many top Hellenic restaurants in Athens and the wine selection was also excellent. George was our host who also was part of the team in the kitchen, explained and described everything to us with ease and passion. A real pro. The environment and views were breathtaking. Bia the GM floor less and Anastasia just smiled continuously. Would I go back? I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you helping me make my 83 year old mother’s day so special.

The people at Abeliona are truly special. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with such warmth and genuine hospitality—it felt like coming home. Every member of the team goes above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable, relaxed, and immersed in the experience. Their kindness and care create a nurturing atmosphere that is rare to find. The hiking around Abeliona is spectacular. Surrounded by ancient forests, pristine paths, and stunning mountain views, every walk is an opportunity to reconnect with nature. Whether you’re heading toward the Temple of Apollo Epicurius or simply exploring the nearby trails, the landscape is invigorating and deeply calming at the same time. And then there’s the yoga area. Practicing in such a peaceful setting, often with the sounds of birds and the scent of pine in the air, is truly transformative. The instructors, especially Elina, are deeply attuned to the group’s energy and provide sessions that are both grounding and uplifting, suitable for all levels. Abeliona Retreat is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover a sense of balance. I left feeling inspired, restored, and incredibly grateful. I can’t wait to return.

This was a lovely place, amazing views and so peaceful. We loved the chalet-style set/up, the room was immaculately clean and we had a beautiful balcony. We also had refreshments and a traditional cuisine upon arrival. The food was really good, breakfast had so much choice. The only cons were the road to get there is really windy and a bit rocky so I’d recommend a 4x4 if you are renting a car. Also we couldn’t use the fireplace because of the fire risk as it was autumn and the leaves were dropping (understandable) but I think this should be made clear before booking during this period.
