This has been the highlight of our trip so far and we can not thank the staff and owner enough for making this a special stop for us. The onsen was amazing, rooms were perfect, the location was fantastic for the snow monkey park, there were several places to go within walking distance and the kaiseki meal was the best we have had of all our meals so far in Japan. The owner of the hotel was so friendly and helpful and is someone we won’t ever forget meeting. A+ and thank you so much for a once in a lifetime visit!

Staff was lovely. Room was perfect. The owner came by at dinner to talk for a bit. She was very nice. We stopped here on our way to Kanazawa for one night. It was a quick walk from the station.

We had absolutely no idea what we were in for when we arrived at this quaint Ryokan. We had visited the snow monkeys, which is a must see when in this area of Japan. We arrived and were greeted with a welcome beverage and then escorted to our room. Our escort asked us to remove our shoes and then offered slippers. There were two separate rooms. One was a table where one would sit in a very low chair on the floor, upon tatami mats. The other room was our bedroom where there were two futons. We had a "onsen" room which is a geothermically fed spring bath on our patio. The spring was right below our hotel. We then were told that our authentic Japanese dinner would be held in a tatami room. You sit on the edge of a platform and your legs dangle below the table. We were greeted by beautiful Japanese women dressed in kimonos (we were offered kimonos to wear and declined). They spoke perfect English. We were treated to fabulous food offerings. Some you cooked yourself in oil or water. The whole experience let us feel authentic Japanese dining. At the end of our meal, the owner of the hotel came to our tatami room and introduced herself and she could not have been more gracious. We highly recommend this hotel!
