AC Hotel by Marriott Madrid Airport

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the property and we were impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the competency of the staff. It is close to the airport and has a convenient shuttle service that makes transfers easy. Our only complaint would be something that is outside the control of the hotel, which is the general decay of the area surrounding its location. This area is full of unfinished construction sites and abandoned hotels. If you are just there for a long layover, then it's fine. But if you want to be somewhere you can walk around and enjoy the sights, then you should probably pick a hotel closer to the city center.

The hotel is great, like most AC hotels, however... the shuttle service from the airport does not run between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. and the vehicle I apparently needed to catch was for a long-term parking place that serves hotel clients. Despite having spoken to the front desk on the phone, I wasn't told that and missed the last van for the night which had passed right by me. If you take the public bus, you need to walk 17 minutes through a desolate and unsafe area. Therefore, prepare for the cost of a cab: $22 to T2.

I usually choose Marriott hotels for their consistent quality, but this one fell far short of expectations. The room’s A/C could not be adjusted, which made for a very uncomfortable stay during the peak of summer. Even worse, the breakfast was a real letdown — the cheese had mold on it, and overall the selection and quality were very very poor. Definitely not what you’d expect from a Marriott. The Price too high for the Quality. The only redeeming qualities were the hotel's proximity to the airport and the reliable shuttle service, which were both convenient. Unfortunately, everything else left a lot to be desired.
