I had the pleasure of staying at AC Old Montreal last week for two nights. The room was impeccably clean, and the hotel has a beautiful modern vibe. The bed was very comfortable and the gym was nicely equipped. The location is fantastic with Old Montreal at your doorstep. The front desk was helpful and friendly. I will definitely be staying here again!
We stayed for 3 nights and honestly, the location couldn't be better. The staff is wonderful as well. The hotel has recently been renovated, and while it is nice - as other reviewers have indicated, this is where the problems start. The bathroom is separated only by a sliding door that doesn't leave much to the imagination - or much privacy. You can basically hear everything, and from certain vantage points see everything when your travelling colleagues are using the washroom or showering. I was travelling with my 12-yr-old daughter, so this was far from ideal. Although I can't imagine many couples would be in to that either. There was an issue with the locks, and several times we returned to the room to discover our door unlocked - one time even left open by the cleaning staff. Nothing was taken from the room, but they really need to address this. Finally, $50 is exorbitant for the breakfast buffet. It is decent, but really nothing special. I would advise you to grab breakfast at one of the countless great restaurants within walking distance instead. Nice hotel and enjoyable stay overall, but can't get my highest rating for these reasons unfortunately.
I’d like to start with the positives. This hotel is ideally situated for anyone visiting Old Town Montreal, making it easy to walk to all the attractions. Recently renovated, the hotel looks fantastic. One of the highlights of our stay was meeting David, one of the bartenders. He was incredibly helpful, sharing great suggestions for places to explore during our visit. His knowledge of the differences between the USA and Canada made for an engaging conversation, and I would happily give him 5 stars for his excellent service. However, there were some downsides. I wouldn’t recommend upgrading to the “balcony” option. We opted for the only “balcony” rooms available, but they turned out to be a letdown. What we received was essentially a large window masquerading as a door that opened onto a small cement slab with limited views of unattractive high walls and neighboring windows. It certainly didn’t feel like a balcony or a pleasant patio, making the upgrade not worth it. Additionally, the window air conditioners were quite bothersome. They were difficult to regulate and quite loud, which made the rooms feel humid. The TV was also disappointing, lacking movie channels and streaming capabilities. On a positive note, the hotel was clean and offered good parking options.
