The reception provided excellent service and the cocktails were delicious. The room was clean and spacious, reasonably priced, with strong water flow and bright lighting. The elevators wait for few minutes only. It wasn't crowded, but no beautiful spots for taking photos as well. The dining room was a bit small, but the food was good. Overall is good if I have a chance, I will be there again
AC Hotel by Marriott - Honest Guest Review I recently had a pleasant experience at AC Hotel by Marriott. The food, although not highly varied, was tasty and met expectations. What stood out was the unlimited supply of coffee and tea—definitely a plus for caffeine lovers! I was there for a character building training on Level 2. While the training room was well-equipped, it’s worth noting that this level shares space with the swimming pool area. This means the restroom facilities are limited—only one actual toilet cubicle, with the other three being shower stalls. For more convenience, it’s better to head to the more spacious restrooms on Level 1. Still, I appreciate that the toilets were clean and smelled nice. The surau (prayer room) deserves a mention too—clean, cozy, and a peaceful place to perform prayers. All in all, AC Hotel offers a comfortable space for events or short getaways. While there are a few layout quirks, the cleanliness, service, and thoughtful amenities more than make up for it. Would I return? Yes. And I’d recommend it, especially for business or training events.
One of the worst experiences we've ever had with a Marriott property, completely unacceptable. I’ve been traveling for over 20 years and have never left a Google review. I usually appreciate good service and keep unsatisfactory service quietly, sometimes even sending direct compliments to management via email — but this experience at AC Hotel Penang was so bizarre and disappointing, especially while traveling with a young child, that I felt compelled to write this. We had been in transit for over 24 hours with three connecting flights, and our last connecting flight was cancelled, leaving us stranded at the airport for over 5 hours just trying to make it to Penang. With no local phone service, I had no choice but to roam internationally to call the hotel and ensure our booking would still be honored for a late check-in after 10pm. We called 7 times within an hour, no answer. Each time, their automated voice system disconnected us after exactly 60 seconds. We kept trying, another 6 calls later, someone finally picked up after 30 minutes, only to casually say, “It’s fine, you can check in late,” with zero empathy or interest in helping. When we finally arrived, exhausted with a child in tow, three front desk staff were present, and instead of acknowledging our ordeal, they mockingly asked, “Are you sure you called the right number?” The next morning, I spoke with the front desk manager, who casually dismissed the issue by blaming their system and refused to take any ownership of the situation. Instead, he asked me to show him my call logs, as if I needed to prove we tried contacting them. I’ve stayed at Marriott hotels in dozens of countries over the last decade, and this was by far one of the worst experiences not just for the poor system, but for the lack of care, empathy, and basic accountability. If you're traveling with family or expect even bare-minimum service, think twice before booking this hotel. AC Hotel Penang is not representative of the Marriott standards I’ve come to trust.
