Ace Hotel Kyoto

I love Ace in Sydney so naturally had to stay in Kyoto when visiting. The experience was second to none. Never have I been more amazed at a hotel precinct. The rooms were huge, my favourite brands were there to shop, the lobby was even great to hang out in, but the service was on another level. I cannot believe the hospitality provided at any hour of the day. We have never had a better stay at a hotel anywhere in our lives.

We spent 6 nights here with our 2 teenaged boys. We had 2 rooms that were close together and the rooms were clean and well-appointed. Two of us have coeliac disease and we had emailed ahead about this. When we checked in, they were aware of it, and had informed the breakfast buffet and restaurants about it, meaning we were well looked after and felt very safe eating their food. The location was amazing. The railway station was directly beneath the building, and it is within walking distance of most of the great sites. It had a funky vibe which we enjoyed. The reception and housekeeping staff were all very helpful. We’d recommend Ace Hotel to everyone.

Stayed with my family (teen and senior), and this place satisfied everyone! You get a top-notch experience without draining your wallet — the value was excellent. The location? Perfect. Smack in the middle of Kyoto, so many things are within a 10-30 minute walk. The vibe here is cool, modern aesthetic but blends perfectly with the charm of old Kyoto. The architecture honors the city’s history while giving you all the comforts of a sleek, modern stay. Every detail is dialed in, from the stunning design to the carefully curated room amenities. And the front desk staff? Couldn’t be nicer or more helpful — they go above and beyond to make sure everything’s just right. The service was flawless the entire stay. Note, if you want pajamas, please let them know (not in the room). I knocked a star off for the host at the Italian restaurant who was rude (they hold tables and won’t give you options, even if they sit empty for 2 hours, if was odd). The breakfast could be more varied, it’s slow, and they mix things up. I would give it 4.5. This spot is a total gem in Kyoto. I’m already looking forward to coming back!
