Akademia Hotel Balatonfured

Rooms are great, spacious and clean. Beds are a bit on the uncomfortable side but you still sleep ok on them. We only had breakfast and it was plentiful and everything was tasty. Only problem I had in this place was that most of the workers here do not speak any other language aside from Hungarian which is unfortunate cos I do not speak the language. Don't get me wrong, they are helpful and really do try. That and the beds is why I'm giving it 4 stars.

I expected more from a 4-star hotel. Food was ok+, but I would expect more choice for a 4-star hotel. Our room door (around the handle and lock) looked like someone had broken into the room in the past. Maybe we were just unlucky because it really was the only such door on the entire floor, but no one at the reception told us about the condition of the door untill we saw it by ourselves. At the pool, you are requested to wear a swimming cap (maybe we missed that when making the reservation). And if you are not a native (Hungarian) speaker, there will be a challenge to communicate with the receptionist at the pool. Saunas are ok, we just didn't expect that there will be children allowed. Otherwise the staff (reception & waiters) is kind.

BED BUGS!! STAY AWAY!! Booked this hotel for one night to attend a wedding in the area. Upon chcek-in we noticed the room was not very clean, the bathroom was still all wet, mouldy and smelt. However, the worst of all - there were bed bugs running around on the bed!! The mattress was also disgusting without any mattress protector. The staff at the reception looked very unfazed when we told them about the bed bugs. Overall, a horrible experience which caused us so much stress and hassle on a weekend when we should have been celebrating.
