This review is for the main dining room, lunch dining and bakery. I look forward to staying here, but it is hard to get a reservation without at least a year planning in advance! The food here is superb, in each of the locations you can get it inside the hotel. Only guests can dine at the main restaurant at night, but their lunches, while expensive, are masterpieces of cooking well worth the price. The cafe-outdoor eatery, again rather pricey, but the food is always delicious. In either location, you have amazing views of the surrounding valleys, mountains, and even Lake Nojiri on clear days. The breads (love the raisin bread here!) and the pastries from the bakery are fresh, flavorful, and you can get them to go. Fair warning, this is a popular destination for people that are not staying at the hotel, so the eateries can get very crowded.

The cakes are unbelievable! We stopped here during skiing and it was the perfect boujee pit stop. The spiced hot chocolate was delicious!

Everyday life - this word expresses what we seek in travel: escaping from it all. There are a lot of people. For Japanese people, who are not good at resting, achieving this depends on how well they can empty their minds. For example, an unobstructed view. Natural beauty on an overwhelming scale. Just looking at it draws you in, and before you know it, you are empty. Isn't it true that everyone wants to have an experience like this? Akakura Kanko Hotel is located at an altitude of about 1,000m, halfway up Mt. Myoko, one of the 100 famous mountains of Japan. It was founded in 1937. When this classic resort was founded, the most important thing was the scenery. Later, the area was designated a national park, so no other buildings were constructed and the magnificent views were exclusive to this hotel. The Myoko Highlands, which change with the seasons, the majestic mountain ranges of Mt. Hakkai and Mt. Madarao, and the blue Lake Nojiri. Travelers who arrive here, exhausted from the day to day life, are soothed by the magnificent scenery and blend right in. The joy of travel, something they've never experienced before, will fill your entire body.
