A Truly Unforgettable Sumba Experience! From the moment we arrived at this exquisite boutique hotel in Sumba, we knew we had found something truly special. It's rare to encounter a place where every single member of staff radiates such genuine warmth and friendliness, making you feel instantly at ease. What truly sets this resort apart are the incredible owners, Dan and Jess, and their wonderful family. They welcome every guest not just as a visitor, but as an extension of their own family. Their hospitality is boundless; they simply cannot do enough for you. They go above and beyond to ensure you get the opportunity to experience the authentic heart and soul of Sumba, guiding you to hidden gems and sharing insights that made our trip so much richer. We felt completely at home from the very first minute, immersed in an atmosphere of comfort and genuine care. Every detail, from the personalised attention to the seamless way they facilitate exploring the island, speaks volumes about their dedication. We are already dreaming of our next visit and cannot wait to return to this magical place that feels like a home. Thank you, Dan, Jess, and the whole team for creating something truly special. See you again soon!
A heaven on earth! This place is so amazing! The architecture of the building blends seamlessly with the plants, creating a harmonious sanctuary on the coast of Sumba. The people here are so welcoming, warm, and full of smiles, always ready to help whenever needed. The food is also delicious and natural! The amenities are very complete and natural, and the facilities offered are also quite comprehensive for the size available. The welcome massage was very memorable! I will definitely come back again! Alamayah, keep up the great work and continue to preserve it!
Possibly the best resort I’ve ever stayed at. If you’re heading to Sumba, do yourself a favor and stay here instead of The Sanubari or Nihi. I’ve been to plenty of luxury resorts, but this one just gets it right. No private pools or beachfront villas — but honestly, it has everything you actually need. The focus on sustainability and support for the local Sumbanese community is amazing, and the staff are clearly well looked after. The hospitality feels genuine and grounded. Also the first resort I’ve not seen any mosquito or insect in southeast asia… and that says a lot! Now the best part: the food. Oh. My. God. Easily the best we’ve had at any remote resort. Most places cut corners, but not here. Everything was perfectly seasoned and made with farm-to-table ingredients. Compared to Sanubari (some of the food was really questionable), the difference was wild. And the cocktails? Not overly sweet or artificial — they taste like healthy juices with a little buzz. We were drinking them at 10am, which says a lot because we never drink before noon. lol The vibe is also unreal. Great music, cozy lobby, only six rooms — so it’s peaceful, never crowded. After staying at both Sanubari and Alamayah, we just kept thinking about how good everything tasted and honestly wish we had stayed here the whole time. There are two small downsides which I would like Alamayah to improve upon (but despite these I will still come back here!!): 1) massage - it was neither professional or good, hope this could be improved and 2) the shampoo and conditioners - I know they are supposed to be all natural and stuff but it really can’t clean your hair properly and conditioners do not really condition your hair… Anyway! one last thing to end on an amazing note! The horses here are really taken care of. My horse really smelled like shampoo and it was literally the cleanest horse I’ve encountered!
