Alchimy

Dinner Sunday 29th,incredibly hot evening in Albi….we arrived early after a walk from the other side of the river. Staff still eating their dinner but we were welcomed and seated inside ( far too hot to eat on the terrace) and provided with a welcome jug of cold water to tide us over. Everything was exceptional about our evening the decor is tasteful and the staff welcoming and friendly (I forget the name of our smiling waiter but he was from Bangladesh) There are a few dining options from à la carte to set menus. We chose a cod dish and I had veal….both outstanding. We started with two delicious Alchimy cocktails and then a lovely Provence rosé. My dessert was a work of art…called a pink Pavlova,absolutely scrummy and Madame had some delicious ice cream All in all, a perfect evening….merci team Alchimy

We would give a star for better pillows (literally!) but this hotel -- more a restaurant with rooms, given its size and staffing - is otherwise comfortable and quiet in the heart of the town center. Rooms (as you can see from the online photos) vary in decor, aspect and size. Ours was very spacious. Dinner on the terrace in front was delicious and breakfast -- the classic version without cooked eggs - was of a high standard in the luxuriously-appointed interior dining room. Note that if you want to park in the hotel garage you need to let the hotel know ahead of time, but we parked in a municipal lot almost as close and much more convenient if you plan to come and go.

We had dinner at the restaurant on 19 July. The food was excellent, and we were happy to find vegetarian dishes that were both creative and delicious. The wine selection is not very big, but we had the impression the wines were very good: ours, a white wine from the Languedoc region, was excellent. Service was absolutely faultless, and we found the location itself not only well situated but also tastefully decorated.
