The location of Aldea Thai was second to none situated just over looking Kool beach club adjacent to Mamitas beach club and just off the hustling activity of 5th ave. The hotel staff were for the most part very friendly and accommodating and all of the front desk attendants spoke enough English or fluent in English as their second/third language. The grounds were well kept and clean, the pool was lovely. They had a swim up bar that I didn't take advantage of as it seemed to only be open durring the late morning and to sunset time before dinner of which I was always out and about. I stayed over the Christmas holiday and the hotel seemed fairly quiet there were a few Xmas eve parties, but nothing that was disruptive. I will note that since this hotel is a condo rental each unit is owned or managed by a different property manager. I booked my unit via Airbnb for unit 213 and had a wonderful host that was extremely responsive to all my needs. The unit was wonderful, clean, kept clean daily, drinking water and beach towels were provided, and everything worked wonderfully for me including the kitchen appliances, safe, hot water, blow dryer, A.C., TV, etc... there is always a taxi available and a bell hop waiting to assist to where you wish to go. They have free valet parking for your car or rental. I have read other reviews that it can be quite loud from other guests which I could see being an issue due to the hotel not having anything to truely absorb sound with being all tile, and the hallways are technically open to the outside with atrium openings for trees. With that said this hotel is on the quieter end of 5th near luxury hotels/condos not adjacent to the party city end of 5th though a 10 minute walk away to enjoy the night clubs. Like any hotel you stay at you may have folks coming home late at night that aren't considerate of their neighbors. I, however, didn't experience any issues. My A.C. unit acted as white noise and I didn't have any other guests being inconsiderate durring my stay. Another note to make is I felt not only safe in the hotel, but also in the entire walkable area around. They have a heavy police precence that made me feel safe knowing almost every block on 5th and every other ave off 5th and the beach had a friendly officer there to make sure everyone has a good time and is safe. They seem highly protective of the tourist areas to keep them comfortable for all travellers. Even walking around alone as a female at night didn't make me uncomfortable in this area. I would absolutely recommend staying at this condo/hotel for vacation travellers that are coming back to or first timers to Playa. Just as you book your room read the reviews of the specific unit you are staying for the host/property manager, and know it isn't an all inclusive hotel experience or a hotel where they control each unit. If you want that experience go have it elsewhere with the rest of the tourists. I would say this is for the more experienced traveler that wants to curate their own experience more similar to living with locals rather than it be force fed at a massive resort. It also affords you to have comforts of home with a full kitchen for extended stays. Happy Travels!
This unit is very outdated. Every other appliance is in disrepair and in stead of just removing the appliances that doesn't work they just put a new appliance on the countertop. The entire unit needs a facelift. It is also dirty. I can tell nobody cares. The first thing I did was wipe the entire unit down with disinfectant because it was dirty and didn't smell good. They should be charging about half the price because it is in such poor shape. Also, we were told an ambassador was going to meet us at check in, give us a tour, and provide anything we needed. This did not happen. The only communication I had with the ambassador was when I asked for additional toiletries and 2 days later I got one more roll. FYI I was staying for a week with 2 adults and 2 children. They provided 3 rolls of toilet paper for the week! I had to go out and buy everything.... Dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towel, disinfectant wipes, and other cooking items that were said to be included in the rental. I absolutely would not recommend stay here!
terrible hotel. very lucid. a surprise for us was a glazed bed with a stain of blood. asked to change after, then changed to the same dirty. photo cheating. I don’t advise. the staff does nothing. we were very disappointed! despite the fact that the conditions were disgusting we took the full price of the room. 2000 pesso. we moved to the hotel much better and cheaper.
