What an experience. When I checked in, I arrived 20 minutes to 3pm. I could not checkin till 3pm, eventhough the room was ready. So I waited in the lobby. At exactly 3pm the lobby person shouted that I could check in now. Very strange but okay, 3pm is 3pm. The lobby person said I communicate through WhatsApp to the person that helps me, the lobby person does nothing for you as this is a condo hotel. I get into the room and the room has a lot of wear, furniture, floor, appliances, fixtures, etc. It smells like mold and sewage but so did outside the room. The master does not have a view, only if the inside courtyard. The master AC wasn't working it was 80° in the master, the safe was locked open, the sliding door didnt lock and as in many properties in Mexico, you can't flush toilet paper. I alerted the whatsapp person about some of the issues, they sent a HVAC person immediately. The AC was really broken, I checked in Tuesday, they fixed it Friday. Luckily there were 2 units in the room, so I stayed in the second bedroom that had AC. The safe was fixed the next day by staff. I was sitting in the kitchen when a palmetto bug skeried by, after I killed it, I whatsapped and the person answered and fumigated the room the next day. The water was not working when I woke up Thurday morning, I guess the whole hotel didnt have water. After having no water I changed my plans and air reservations to leave Saturday morning and return to Miami. After I returned from Centoe diving, in tye afternoon the water was working, not sure how long it was off. On Friday afternoon, after returning from another Cenote dive trip, I wanted to get a hot shower and I didnt have any hot water. They fixed the AC but broke the hot water. Again I contacted the whatsapp person, sometime Friday night they fixed it, as Saturday morning I had hot waterm. ALSO, at various times the electricity was out but I think that wasn't just the property. The upstairs plunge pool area wasn't safe, the wood was rotten, tiles chipped and furniture stained and falling apart. The location is great, walkable to alot of playa and they did fix everything that could be fixed. The whatsapp person was great and the cleaning person was beyond helpful. The property needs demolished and something new needs to be built. The beach was not usable because of the sargasm, the smell was overpowering. When I cut my vacation short a day and asked for a credit, the whatsapp person said no, as they fixed all of the items that were broken. Fair enough, I just wanted to leave and get away from this property. I wish it was nice, as I am looking for a place in Playa that I can return to, so I can continue to Cenote dive different locations. I will never stay at this property again.
This is not a 4 star hotel/condo building. I would not recommend staying here. There was no hot water, numerous electrical outlets did not work, towel rack fell off the wall when touched, the tv did not work, kitchen cabinet door just hanging on by a thread, boards were loose in the private pool location and I thought someone might fall through the floor, could not flush any toilet paper down the toilet - however there was a bidet in the room that did not work because the electrical outlet had no power. There was a huge tub - similar to a jacuzzi that had a shower attached with no curtain - but the step up was so high I needed assistance to get out after I tested getting in it. After staying 1 night out of our 5 night stay in Mexico, we woke up to water all over the bathroom floor from a leaking ceiling. We checked out early and went to another resort about 1 block away which was 100% better. Basically the rooms seem old and run down and the owners try to cover things up with some new paint. The only decent thing about this resort is the location of 1 block from the beach. However the sargassum is so bad on the beach though and we ended up taking a ferry to Cozumel.
Do not stay here!!!!!!! Don’t book on Airbnb, don’t book on Booking.com. Stay away. They represent themselves one way and turn out to be a scam. My group of seven checked out after one night, after issues with a leaky ceiling, water being shut off, no hot water, dirty clothes(to include underwear) in my room when I arrived, no operable televisions, and a/c not working in a master suite— we had to find and pay for new accommodations last minute and the hosts refused to return the remainder of my money, while lying and saying that my family caused the leak and that we “broke” their tv that was NEVER working (which maintenance confirmed). Please, whatever you do, do not book. Maintenance issues galore and hosts will become rude when you bring issues to their attention. Lily, Christian and Nety—they have units 307 and 212– do not stay if you want to have an enjoyable vacation.
