Hotel Almore is a great newer family owned hotel close to the center of town in Santa Elena. My family of 5 ( 2 adults plus 3 kids - 10, 8, and 4) stayed here for 3 nights while we explored the Monteverde region. The hotel was less than 10 minutes from many restaurants and activities. All hotels employees were welcoming and kind. My kids loved waking up and seeing the farm animals everyday. The views are beautiful and the location is peaceful. We were very comfortable in the family suite. We left a couple items there and they offered to send to our next hotel which was super helpful and kind. I would recommend staying here if you are in the area.

I would give it a 3.5/5, if there was a choice. I recently spent four nights at Hotel Almore, and had the privilege of being the first guest in their new section. While the hotel showed great promise, there were some teething issues that detracted from my overall experience. The Good: Breathtaking Views: The hotel's location offers stunning views of the surrounding farms, the Gulf of Nicoya, nearby islands, and majestic mountains. The daily sunsets were truly unforgettable. Excellent Breakfast Experience: The breakfast service and view were excellent, with a good traditional breakfast option. Farm Experience - I appreciated the opportunity to get up close to the farm animals, even if petting wasn't allowed. Free Upgrade on Arrival: Upon arrival, the hotel generously upgraded my room to a suite, which was a lovely surprise and a great start to my stay. Helpful Staff - The staff were very helpful and courteous, with Alphonso being a standout host at breakfast every day. Felt Safe - I felt safe during my stay, which is always a top priority. The Bad Teething Issues - As a new hotel, there were some expected teething issues, including a TV that didn't work initially and required multiple attempts to fix. Bugs and Insects: Unfortunately, I encountered huge bugs on the first two days, and a plethora of small insects on the last day, which made it difficult to sleep. Despite growing up in a tropical country, I was still uncomfortable with the number of insects in the room. Lack of Insulation: The room wasn't fully insulated, which made it difficult to regulate the temperature. No Hot Water: The shower and bathroom lacked hot water, which was uncomfortable, especially during the chilly nights and early mornings. Limited Storage Space The room didn't have a closet or hangers to organize my clothes, which made it difficult to keep my belongings tidy. No Compensatio - Despite the inconveniences, I didn't receive any compensation or acknowledgement from the hotel. Unpaved Road - The road to the hotel is unpaved, which made for a bumpy ride. Overall, while Hotel Almore has great potential, they need to work on ironing out the kinks and providing a more comfortable and bug-free experience for their guests. With some improvements, this hotel could truly shine.
