Aloft Seoul Myeongdong

5 stars for Aloft Seoul Myeongdong. We booked a suite and it was fantastic. Separate bedroom and living room with quiet sliding door let us relax while kid slept. Staff was courteous, checked us in quickly, and was available for all our questions. They also have someone opening the front door - great when pushing around a stroller with sleeping kid. Great views of the busy intersection but with little noise. We had no problems sleeping every night. Our son loved watching the buses zipping up and down. Room was well laid out, with lots of storage areas tucked all over. They have free bags of fresh popcorn every afternoon - a nice treat! Gym is small but equipment was well maintained and the coin operated laundry machines came handy. Wishlist: the bathroom was really slippery when wet so watch out, need some racks or hooks to hang towels, and laundry machines were pricey. All minor. We would be glad to stay at Aloft again!

I booked the Aloft Seoul Myeongdong at the last minute after booking another property...I'm very glad I made the switch! This hotel was perfectly situated in the middle of anything you'd want to do in Seoul. From the Myeongdong Market accessible from different directions when exiting to hotel, to the Namdaemun Market across the street, this hotel has a perfect location. Different bus and subway lines in all directions made it extremely easy to get around Seoul. Breakfast each day was a nice addition. While the same things were served each day, there is enough selection to offer a varied meal each day. The eggs made to order were a highlight. When returning to Seoul, I will book this hotel again.

Presents more like a 3 star than 4 star hotel. Noisy despite being well above street level. Only 2 elevators and they take an eternity to arrive. Staff service not so great - don't provide solutions beyond "sorry we can't do anything about it". Rooms are small but not unexpected given it's Korea. No bathroom amenities and poor aircon control, unclear if it even works properly. Shower head also appears to be some water saving variant - good for the environment (and their wallet) I suppose but makes for not the greatest shower experience. Their location is good I'll give them that. Close to many shops. Wouldn't stay again given the rest though at the price paid.
