Alpenpalace Luxury Hideaway & Spa Retreat

We stayed here for 3 nights for our honeymoon and it was easily the best hotel we have ever stayed in. You can tell why it’s 5 stars immediately after you drive in. In my opinion, this hotel is excellent value for money. Guests receive a daily program of spa treatments, meditations, guided hikes and guided mountain bike tours. The daily breakfast and dinner were also excellent. We checked out today and already miss the food. The hotel is also located in a great part of the valley with excellent Panasonic views of the mountains. The staff made us feel very special for our honeymoon and we can’t thank them enough for it! I don’t think anyone will regret staying here!

Not sure why this resort is rated a five-star, because the service is severely lacking. Upon arrival, no one was available to help us with our bags, one staff was working at reception and clearly overworked and flustered that they’re understaffed. We waited to be checked in for over 30 minutes with no one else in line, but the staff is trying his best already and extremely kind so the extra star goes to him! The dinner service was abominable, the food took forever and tasted like it’s been sitting out for a long time. The service was on par of not even a three star hotel, when we asked if they can do something about the abundance of flies that keep landing on our food, they said they have no solution?! Watching the flies land on the buffet food left me with zero appetite, and as someone who is pregnant, food hygiene is a top priority for me and this was shocking to see the infestation of flies at a “5-star resort”. I booked a massage and facial for my birthday and during the facial, I was not able to relax AT ALL because flies keep landing on me, how can the staff act like this is normal when they see me clearly bothered waving my arms to shoo away the flies?! Flies were also in the bedroom, as the hotel advised us to keep the windows open because there is no air conditioning, and guess what? We did not get a good nights rest. It’s a joke how this hotel promotes wellness, mediation and relaxation when they don’t care about the comfort of their guests. We drove four hours up from Milan, looking forward to spend my birthday at this resort, only to be severely disappointed. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Flies kept me awake all night, the owner needs to invest in some proper pest control to deal with the fly infestation. Because of how many flies are in this hotel, my one year old grandson has learned how to say "fly" when he sees them flying around. Traumatizing.
