Alva Valley Hotel

We can’t say enough good things about the Alva Valley Hotel. The second we walked in we were welcomed like family. The room was really lovely and our terrace was spacious, had a great view, and it was such a nice place to relax. We went on several outstanding hikes without ever having to get in the car. Walking up the hills takes you to spectacular vistas and walking along the beautiful river is a cool escape to the sounds of running water and birds and the sweet smell of clean air. We built up a hearty appetite and thoroughly enjoyed a delicious dinner. The breakfast was also lovely. It featured organic locally made yogurt and fresh fruit, salami and chorizo, local cheeses, fresh bread and pastries with a selection of locally made jellies and honey straight from the honeycomb. We came with our dog, who got a comfy bed of her own and special treats in the room. She also had a wonderful time at this marvelous hotel in this incredible paradise in Portugal.

This hotel deserves more guests. Whether you're a picky person or easy going, this place has it all. I couldn't find a fault or anything missing, very rare. And the service is top notch, wonderful people. Very dog friendly and biker friendly. Superb area to visit with lots of twisty roads. Don't drive by, stay.
