Am Ruhrufer

Great hotel for a short stay. Was there for one night. It was very clean and the stuff was friendly. Had no breakfast so I can't say anything about this. There are parking places directly at the hotel. Would recommend....

Very nice and quiet hotel at the banks of the river Ruhr. Make sure you get a riverside room! Also the breakfast was good and the river terrace in the morning sun made it something to remember (and write about). The Sauna is not the newest, but it is a sauna both a view on the Ruhr and the green banks on the other side. The little wooden hut with a terrace that just puts you out of sight of the neighboring beer garden and river promenade is special in a good way.

If at all possible, I would give them even less than one star. First, the offer is misleading - the hotel advertises as four star one, but certainly doesn't deserve that. This is not even a typical german Gasthaus quality. Second, it's unbelieveably dirty. Room was full of dust, cobwebs, dead (and alive) insects. Everything covered in dust, walls and curtains full of dead bugs and mold. Shower was dirty, bathroom, judging by stench, hasn't been cleaned by a long time. After having requested the room to be cleaned, I was promised it will be - but it wasn't. I only received one tower less. My "room" was located in the basement, with no WiFi coverage. Reception was mostly deserted, with numerous calls required for anyone to appear. Since the basement room faced the sidewalk, the benches and the small golf course, had to have the curtains shut most if the time. Breakfast below average, had to go to separate building for it. Dark room, uninterested staff. Quality of food - average to poor. Rotten cucumbers I received were not woth 12 Eur. All in all, nasty place, wouldn't recomment event to enemies.
