We didn't read the google reviews until the day we were due to arrive and honestly glad we hadn't. We didn't experience any of the issues mentioned. No mysterious charges. We paid the room rate and tourist tax on check in as expected. We communicated with the hotel via booking.com with our arrival time (we were arriving earlier than the stated check in times) and to organise a private transfer to the airport on check out. I also asked questions about luggage porters from the port. All messages were responded to very quickly, we checked in early, our transfer was correctly booked and confirmed. Reneta gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations and we were able to whatsapp her to double check our transfer collection when we left. The room was clean, the aircon worked so well I had to switch it off most nights because I was cold. The breakfast is basic, but well organised and the ladies who look after you were very welcoming. The only feedback we would have is that the pool towels provided could do with an update, they seemed very old, and we used our own beach towels. Sometimes the pool was busy and we couldn't immediately get a chair and sometimes we were the only ones there. The pool was clean and refreshing and the hotel was perfectly situated just outside of the busy main part of town. From the hotel you can take a 30 minute hike up to an amazing restaurant for lunch called Agricola Fore Porta (reservations only), it was the highlight of our trip!
One of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. Our flight was arriving after the property’s check-in deadline (6:30pm, which is unusually early), so I messaged the hotel in advance to ask about a late check-in. They promptly denied the request—which, while disappointing, was within policy. I followed up again at 9:30am on the day of our arrival to ask if we could check in the next day and still keep our reservation. I didn’t receive a response. Wanting to preserve the rest of our stay, I booked another hotel for the first night and hoped to check in the following day. After landing, I finally received a reply: not only had our request been denied again, but the hotel had canceled our entire booking as a no-show, with no refund. This was done despite knowing we still intended to stay for multiple nights—and they kept our payment for the entire stay. We even visited in person to try to resolve the issue, but staff refused to accommodate us in any way—even though we were physically there and willing to pay. While I understand that policies exist, the lack of flexibility and communication was incredibly disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone expecting basic responsiveness or reasonable hospitality.
Absolutely Horrible – Do Not Book Here We had one of the worst travel experiences ever at Amalfi Resort. After booking and paying in full for two nights, we arrived at the front door only to be told—at 6:30 PM—that check-in was "too late" and our reservation was canceled. No warning, no email, no courtesy. Just locked out. To make things worse, the woman on the phone was extremely rude, showed zero empathy, and actually hung up on me. My wife and I were left standing on the street in a foreign country with nowhere to go. This place lacks basic decency, let alone hospitality. Avoid at all costs. Unprofessional, heartless, and absolutely disgraceful.
