The room that we booked for 5 pax was sufficient. The toilet for one room was not working. The cleanliness was just okay. Breakfast included in the room which is very basic and they serve bacon but they don’t tell you so you have to ask for it for the price that we got during Black Friday sales it was okay but I do not think I will stay here. Staff are very friendly though. Take note that the entrance is very steep and even though there are people who will help you with the luggage bags, if you are not mobile, you might have issues going up. Definitely not disabled friendly place.

During the stay, it became apparent that the hotel suffered from general mismanagement and poor customer service that did not meet minimum hospitality standards. Repeated neglect and numerous complaints went unanswered, negatively impacting guests' comfort and quality of stay. I advise you not to book at the hotel

Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs! Our stay at Amalthea in Phuket was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We were traveling as a family—my wife, our 2-year-old son, and our helper—and this hotel completely failed to provide even the most basic level of hospitality. We booked the "2 Bedroom Pool Access with Patio" from 23rd to 27th March 2025, expecting a comfortable and relaxing stay. Instead, we encountered nothing but issues. 1. Arrival Nightmare Our vehicle couldn’t even stop in front of the hotel because another car was parked there. We had to get down below and drag our luggage up a steep slope to the reception—all while managing our young child. Thankfully, our driver helped us, but this was already a bad start. 2. Unprofessional Check-in & Payment Issues Upon reaching reception, there was no real welcome—just two ladies and one man dressed casually as if they were at home. It immediately felt unprofessional. Then came the real shock: they insisted on cash-only payment, claiming they had no card machine. For a 4-night stay costing 34,000 Thai Baht, this was unacceptable. Instead of offering an alternative, the receptionist simply said, “You can go to the ATM and withdraw cash.” We had to search for an ATM that could dispense enough bills, as some machines only allowed 20 notes per withdrawal, meaning multiple transactions and additional overseas charges. Once we finally paid, we were just handed one key—no further instructions, no warm hospitality. 3. Room Conditions – Absolutely Filthy! Upon entering the room, we immediately spotted two lizards running around, which we had to chase out ourselves. Then, we noticed the sliding door railing had a dead cockroach and was covered in dust. The glass and tabletops were also dusty, showing a complete lack of proper cleaning. Both room phones were not working, meaning I had to physically walk back down to request a cleaner. On top of that, the TV was useless—it wasn’t connected to any network, had no channels, and couldn’t even stream YouTube. 4. Wi-Fi? More Like No-Fi! When we asked for the Wi-Fi password (which was not provided at check-in), we finally got it—only to discover that the Wi-Fi didn’t even work. No internet connection at all. 5. Shocking Cleaning Service – Despite No Other Guests! When the cleaner finally arrived 20 minutes later, he came with just a broom. He started sweeping, and an alarming amount of dust was flying around. When we asked about a vacuum cleaner, he casually told us, "We don’t have one." What made this even more ridiculous was that we didn’t see another guest in the entire hotel, yet the cleaning service still took so long! If they can’t even manage to clean properly when there are barely any guests, it’s clear they just don’t care about maintaining basic hygiene. 6. Facilities Were Not Operational To make things worse, most of the facilities advertised were completely non-operational. The games room, which supposedly had a pool table and darts, was not in use. It looked abandoned. The café and bar were closed, leaving no food or beverage options available within the hotel. The gym was a joke, with only one cycling machine and nothing else. It was clear that this hotel was barely running, yet they still charged full price for a stay with no working facilities. We even took pictures as proof of how abandoned these areas looked. 7. Eager to Chase Us Out After everything, we decided we couldn’t stay another night in such conditions. When we went down to request a refund and leave, the staff had no interest in retaining us as guests—they were more than happy to let us go. It was clear they didn’t care about service, hospitality, or customer experience. Final Verdict: AVOID THIS HOTEL! This was by far the worst service we have ever encountered in all our travels. The lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and basic amenities made this place a complete disaster. If you are traveling with family, especially with young children, stay far away from Amalthea Phuket—this place is a total scam.
