Amazonia Estoril Hotel

Don't let the pictures on the site of this hotel make you do a booking. It's not real. The truth is more like a nightmare. We have the suite. 575 euro per night. It has a cheap plastic floor that should have been replaced 20 years ago. It has a "chill couch" with all different kinds of stains in it. It gives me the idea porn movies were made here. Not to be touched. All the plants in the hotel died 30 years ago and are covered in dust. So far the first impression. One star is already too much. Tomorrow I'll rate the rest. Hopefully the shower and bed and breakfast will make up for at least one extra star. We'll see. Next day: bed is great. Clean and pleasant. Had a great night of sleep. The shower is also great. For the first time in Portugal I could shower standing up. Most showers are too low for me (I'm 2 meters high). The water can be very hot as well. The towels are clean and new and soft. And most importantly, they do something with the environment and watermanagement. First time in Portugal we can choose the towels to be replaced daily or not. Most hotels until now gave us a new set of towels every day. This makes up a lot in my review of the hotel. I'm anxious to get my breakfast now. Raising my review from 1 to 3 stars with this experience. The breakfast is good. Croissants are really wonderful. So is the coffee machine with real beans. Pity the choice for espresso is left out. So everybody takes only the first part of an Americano. A lot of waisting good coffee and water. There are only tables and seats for 2 people here. Strange if you're with a party of 4. There is a couch in the breakfast area with a lot of stains in it. It looks very filthy and it's impossible to sit on it for longer than 15 minutes. The whole area is totally white and very outdated. Coming back to the room they took all the towels away and gave us new ones. So the card telling us they are protecting the environment was a joke. There goes my third star. Downgrading again to max 2 stars. I can't make more out of it. Don't book this place.

Nice and quiet place, but needs total renovation…especially rooms. It’s soo neglected and damaged. Also fake bamboo by the bed (!!!) in room was covered in huge amount of dust and spider webs.

This place is a complete disaster! The staff is incompetent and unfriendly- we spend 1 hour at the reception for checkin in the middle of the night only to start the whole process again next morning. Staff at breakfast was extremely unfriendly and we lost another hour of our holidays the next day as we found the doors of our room blocked as we were wrongly (!) accused of not having paid the second night. Pictures also much better than the rather run down reality. Please don’t go there if you want a nice and relaxing holiday!!
