I so want to give this place five stars because there is so much to love about it, but the hard, uncomfortable beds and the "shower" means I can only give it three. They also don't have a kettle in the room which is a must for us l. The positives - we had a junior suite which was enormous with a lovely view over the mall. The windows open so plenty of fresh air. The decor is old but in a good way and there are many quirky features which we loved. Perfect location, walk to everything easily. Loved the seating area in front of the window.

Not worth 5 stars; maybe 3 on a good day. The photos must be outdated because the interior is worn and broken in many places. The location is the best aspect of this hotel but other than that there were quite a few things to critique: * the bed was fairly uncomfortable * hot water in the shower was intermittent * pipes were very loud so you hear flushing from adjacent rooms * depending on the side of the hotel you will have a lot of ambient noise * there are 5 steps between the lobby and the elevators and no assistance with bags * the elevators are terribly slow and it is usually faster to climb the stairs * more than once large tour groups blocked the lobby with their bags and hogged all the elevators making it difficult for other guests to enter the hotel conveniently * the breakfast, albeit decent food, was overcrowded and tables were not cleared fast enough * there was no English breakfast tea * the "welcome drink voucher" is limited to a glass of house wine, watered down Sangria or sparkling water which is misleading * security guards monitor the doors at night so you are unable to bring company to your room if you planned to do so

Where do I even start From the moment we arrived, the reception staff felt cold and unfriendly. It honestly felt like we were talking to a chatbot — no warmth, no welcome. The room smelled musty, and we found hair in the bathtub and stains on the carpet. Everything looked super old, like it hadn’t been updated in over a century — more 1870 than 2025. Nothing about it felt clean or inviting. Check out the photos and see for yourself. There's an air conditioner in the room, but here's the catch: You can't control it. There's central air conditioning in the hotel that they control, not you. So if it's too hot or too cold for you, that's your problem, and there's nothing you can do about it. The food Just okay. Not particularly clean. The guy making omelets dropped the spatula on the floor and didn’t even bother to clean it or get a new one until I said something. The only good thing The location. It’s in a great spot, but that’s about it. It’s a shame, because with better service and some serious updates, this place could be decent. If you care about basic cleanliness, good service, or just feeling welcome — I’d recommend spending your money elsewhere.
