Fab rooms and bathrooms, the bunk rooms area amazing. The hotel is great for kids... small and young teens. Could do with a little more facilities or activities for 13 to 18 year old. Lovely place for a few days. Food is good plenty of choice in the different restaurants.
Recent stay at Amber Springs was hit or miss. Staff are excellent and a credit to the hotel. Rooms are standard enough given the price they charge. Each day the rooms were serviced early which helps when you’re travelling with kids. Overall the hotel provides a lot for kids but can be hectic at times. This hotel used to win awards but I can see why it was over 6-7 years ago since any award was won. Dated in parts. Food was excellent in the main hotel bar so cannot fault that. Breakfast was also not bad so no issues there. I have one very real concern and that is for the animal enclosure out the back. Absolutely pointless and I would wonder about the welfare of one of the animals. I posted a pic below. This animal stood in the same spot every day I was there. I would wonder for the welfare of the animal particularly as it has no other interaction with any other animal and it just appears to stand in the same area all day every day. Even when you walk up to the fence it barely lifts its head.
Dark dull hotel even on a sunny day. Bedroom smelled damp/ musty. Of all the staff I think I only seen one smile during the two night stay. The breakfast which was held in a very dull dark warm room on the second floor was absolutely disgusting, I literally could not eat it . Petting farm is tiny and the gates are so high it's hard for kids to see the animals. The kettle in bedroom was filthy and full of limescale, same as kettle in baby station room, which is smaller than an average box room. The two resteraunts out the back have tables and chairs outside , however when we requested to sit outside ( the restaurant was busy) we were told no they are not doing outdoor dining tonight (one of the nicest nights we have had in months, so warm and bright) so we cramped into a very busy warm restaurant. The sensory room / zen room is locked you need to ask reception to open , I rang down to save my legs walking downstairs with a baby in hand again and I was told I had to come down to reception to book, so I did. When I booked for 5pm , this was at 4.35pm I was told I had to come back at 4.55pm to get someone to come up with me to unlock the door! Awful customer service getting guests to chase staff to open doors. I have so many other small negatives which would take me to long to list and explain. Definitely feels like a 2/3 star hotel. Some positives below. The food in the Italian restaurant was nice and the location of the hotel is good, near beach and court town.
