Amberton Cathedral Square Hotel Vilnius

Sometimes I see bad reviews on here and I have no idea where people are coming from. I had a lovely stay at the Amberton Hotel. There may not be a traditional front desk, but there were two lovely young women to greet me at the info desk and get me the code to my room, which was very comfortable, quiet, and overlooked Cathedral Square. The A/C worked fine, teas and coffees were provided, and if I'd wanted it (I didn't), the mini bar was fully stocked. Everything was clean, and the shower was good and hot. Couldn't want for better, and at that price and in that location, I was perfectly happy.

I chose a room with a view instead of a renovated one – not the best deal in the end. The room was quite old, and to see anything I had to go through a narrow window onto the balcony. On the bright side: super friendly and helpful staff – really great. Breakfast had everything you need, but sadly not very tasty. Location is perfect – couldn’t be better.

We paid for a room with a city view, when confirming the reservation I made sure once again that we would have a room with a city view, but when we checked in we found ourselves in a room with a view of the elevator shaft. Also, the air conditioning in the room did not work, the heated towel rail and the carpet were stained. When we tried to contact support, they chose only the issue regarding the air conditioning from all the problems and clarified that we tried to turn it on and after answering "yes" they stopped answering. Only after 2 am did we receive a message from the hotel manager asking if everything was working for us. The next day after 10 am the hotel manager contacted us and again spoke only about the problem with the air conditioning. Any mention of why the rooms do not match the photos and why we were placed in a room with a view of the elevator, and not the city, was only ignored. The manager suggested that we wait for the repairman to come and fix the air conditioner, but since we were coming to the city for two nights and it was our only day in the city, we refused so as not to waste time on sorting things out and not to completely ruin the weekend. The next morning after 9:30 a cleaning lady came to us, claiming that the manager said that we had already checked out, although shortly before that we had been at breakfast, where the manager saw us. In general, I highly recommend that if you book a room with a city view, additionally check with the manager the day before check-in whether this condition is met. Also, do not count on the fact that in case of an error you will be reimbursed the difference in the cost of the rooms and that the support service will really help you 24/7. I love Vilnius very much and often go there and this is my first such negative experience with a hotel. Everything has always been clear, polite and customer-oriented everywhere
