Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa

This was my first experience inside a casino/Hotel property, and while it was initially uncomfortable, it proved to be a valuable learning opportunity. During my stay I explored the building and approached the casino entrance. Although I am not personally drawn to gambling, I have respect for it. Upon reaching the entrance, two staff members, though not rude, required me to present my ID and scanned before allowing entry. While I understood the policy, I felt somewhat unsettled as my intention was simply to visit the restaurant. This made me hesitate to continue my exploration. Overall, my nearly ten day stay for work was positive. Early booking issues were resolved promptly and professionally by the manager, whose kindness was much appreciated. The front desk staff were consistently warm, helpful, and welcoming. I did not request housekeeping due to my schedule but maintain respect for their efforts. The parking garage is spacious with ample spots near the elevators, which was convenient. The on site restaurants were enjoyable, and the general atmosphere was polite and professional. Despite the initial discomfort, my first stay at a casino hotel property was a rewarding experience thanks to the attentive staff and comfortable accommodations.

Very nice rooms and hotel. Clean, the food was fantastic. The pool closed at 7 pm which was a bummer, it could have stayed open a little longer I thought. Very nice and clean as well though. The copper whisk has a cool little robot to deliver your food (I think they were named Sarah and Robbie). Casino was lots of fun even though I didn't win a lot. Very large space!

The games are exciting and fun, but there is no true smoke-free area. They claim the upstairs is smoke-free, yet it’s open to the smoking floor below so the cigarette smoke drifts right up. You can smell it everywhere and there are ashtrays all over the slot machines. It’s gross and unhealthy. Please enclose the “smoke-free” section, improve ventilation, and actually enforce a clean air zone so guests can enjoy the casino without breathing smoke.
