Amical Hotel Hagen Am Hauptbahnhof

Great central location, super friendly staff and very decent rooms!

The room was fine, certainly for the price. Comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly. We had some problems checking in, because most of the time there is nobody at reception. We arrived early in the afternoon. People coming out of the hotel held the door for us. There where already 2 other guests waiting. After 15 minutes, still nobody at reception. We decided to go into town and come back later. When we came back, we couldn’t get in. Apperently, the door is always closed and you need to ring the bell No answer when we did that. Fortunately, some cleaning guy saw us and opened the door. We had to pay cash, the card machine was not working apparently. Also, this hotel is in an area with many homeless people and alcoholics. A lot of vague people hanging around in the streets near the train station. As a woman, I wouldn't go for a walk here all alone at night.

The property has no elevator, we were placed on the upper floor of the building. We arrived at 23:30. Only one pillow was available in the room. When my wife went downstairs to ask for the second one, the concierge was already prepared for her question, and had the pillow ready to give her (instead of even making the effort of bringing it himself), but never bothered to provide the pillow to avoid us going up and down the stairs late at night. The hotel is definitely not 4 stars (barely 2) and is definitely not worth the money paid.
