Has the place seen better days, yes. Overall, though, my wife and I were very happy with our three day stay there. The man who built the place obviously spared no expense and has a very eclectic taste in art which was interesting to see. It’s only around ten years old and staff explained that it never really recovered after covid, and I’d suggest the end of the hub and spoke model of air travel has hurt it too. We stayed in a Grand Pool Villa and liked the room very much. It was clean and everything worked. Staff were brilliant though there were no phones in rooms, and you needed to contact them via WhatsApp. Once contacted they were there in a flash to help with anything. Also very helpful in other way, for example, the driver of the little carts they use to ferry guests and their luggage around saw us walking up to the local 7-11 and quickly caught up and gave us a lift. The only downside would be for people who hate aeroplane noise. It’s very close to the airport and the new third runway’s flightpath is directly over the hotel. The rooms seems pretty well sound insulated but if sitting by the pool a jet coming into land at 300m above your head can be pretty loud. I happen to be an aeroplane nut since childhood so loved it. If you’re not am aeroplane lover it might get on your nerves.
A great place for a short stop over near the airport. Free airport shuttle, great breakfast (one of the best I had in Thailand) with a good choice of food and beverages. We booked the room with no breakfast, but upon arrival were given a complimentary one. There is some noise from the planes arriving to the airport, but we could sleep perfectly without earplugs. The bedlinen was white, soft towels, a huge bed. There was everything I needed in the room (water, slippers, tooth kit, shaving kit, etc.) The service was outstanding, the hotel staff was always there whenever we needed. Had some problems with the air conditioner in the room which was sorted out within 5-7 minutes. Unfortunately didn't have a chance to use the swimming pool doe to lack of time. Had dinner at the restaurant next to the pond, pricey but has a great choice of food and the planes view (they are arriving while you are having dinner). Highly recommend.
We were there for 3 nights, 3 adults plus two small kids in two rooms. As per other reviews, you will either love it or hate it. Unsure how they justify 5 star, must be a different standard, not global. The place must have been converted using really old building material as it’s well deteriorated. It will cost too much to upgrade or even maintain. So the appeal is for people who are into that vibe. They advertise it for what it is rather than claim it’s luxury as it’s not. They would have a lot more customers if they explain what the art is and provide stories behind the inspiration for the building design. Main reason for low rating is due to the concrete drop off in the photo also as the room was on an incline. As we had a toddler it was unsafe to use the upper balcony. That sliding door shut on its own due to the incline making it dangerous for toddler. Also he walked into a glass table within 30 mins of us getting there so we had to rush to emergency room. Overall would not suggest place if you have small kids. Also one night max as it’s hard to get cabs and nothing close by.
