I stayed in a nice apartment, greatly located in the Barrio de las Letras, near the Prado, the Atocha train station, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and public transportation.

My experience was terrible with this place. The owner of the apartment was absolutely irresponsible and unresponsive. This is an apartment, so no reception or front desk. The owner gave me a password for the front door and the room by email, which didn't work when I arrived. To be clear, I was there at 15:30, so it was after the official check in time. I reached out to the owner by phone and email repeatedly for 2.5 hours but they were radio silent. Agoda helped but they couldn't reach the management either. It was getting late and we were exhausted, so we checked in another hotel nearby. After that I got an email back from the owner, which was already 3 hours since I got to the apartment. When they claimed that the issue was fixed it was already 4 hours. I did check in the apartment on the second day (I booked 3 nights). After my trip I requested a refund for the first night. I provided them with a video showing that the password actually failed on the first day (the sound from the digital lock was totally different from a successful login). The owner simply turn it down. Worst experience with any hotel or apartment, ever.

There was nothing luxurious about my downstairs room at 17 Calle de Amor. It didn’t even have heat much of the time, and the weather (February) was 38°to 40° in Madrid. There was No no staff present at Luxury Suites to try to resolve any problems, period. Only a telephone number for help, which I dialed but no one picked up my call. I left messages but no one ever got back to me to turn the heat on. Since there was no staff, I checked out through email. And demanded my refund for the unused days. The hotel declined. After I checked out, I file a dispute claim on my credit card through my bank, which stood behind me. I had my refund within 30 days.
