I have been staying at the Amora Riverwalk since 2011. Fabulous location, just a short tram ride to Flinders Street Station. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The photo is the view from my room this morning.
The best bits: the staff were so friendly and helpful. The lobby area is very welcoming. The buffet breakfast was great value. The less good parts: rooms were tired. They’re kept clean, but even the sheets and curtains are showing signs of age and wear. The room (112) was spacious, but had very limited storage and hanging, so I had to drape a lot of my clothes over furniture. Power sockets are all very inconveniently placed - and nothing by the beds. Bathroom has limited storage. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get the shower to a comfortable temperature - either so hot it took off your skin, or cold. The bed was so soft it felt like the mattress was broken. Single glazing lets in draughts and the considerable road noise. The room had a lot of windows and curtains, and it was hard to block out the external light overnight. It’s a shame, because the team are so nice, but the relative discomfort of the room would put me off staying again when in Melbourne.
Stayed here previously and decided this time to upgrade our room. Paid for the upgrade and stayed in a filthy room which was not serviced daily. Website stated queen size bed and it was a double. When they did service room, they made the bed but when I got in realised they had just pulled the quilt up and grabbed the bottom sheet at the same time, disgraceful. left toilet paper wrapper on bench and dirty dishes in sink. Got in from a long day at work and beyond disappointed. They opened our balcony door and left it wide open. Room was freezing when we got back not to mention lack of security. To make security even worse, safe in room didn’t work. Impossible to get the shower to a comfortable temperature. The bedroom door didn’t open fully as it hit the bed, certainly not what was advertised and paid for.
