Amrâth Grand Hotel de l'Empereur

I struggle to see how anyone can give this place a negative review. It has everything. Food is great, service is great. Rooms are clean and comfortable. There's parking on site and accessible. It's a ten minute walk to the centre of Maastricht. We loved this place and will go back in a heart beat.

I spent 2 nights, from 5 to 7 August 2025, in the l'Empereur, and if I ever will visit Maastricht, this would be my go to hotel. Located right across the street of Maastricht's Central train station, it is ideal. From the same station, you can take many busses to pretty much wherever you want. At the reception, staff is super friendly, efficient, attentive, helpful & polite, and they are available 24/7. The staff of the restaurant/bar receives kudos reflecting the same! The restaurant is of good quality at a reasonable price! The rooms are quite nice; maybe not very modern or high-end, but are kept clean daily, and for € 62 (excluding tourist tax and breakfast) it is a bargain, especially since it is high-season. OK, here are the minuses: - WiFi drops too often, especially for doing work professionally. - In-room safety-box did not function. Highly recommended!

Extremely dirty room and bathroom! Carpets are really old and seem dirty. Found hair in sink, bath tub & fridge. Walls behind bathtub has mold. Lamps were extremely dusty. Window sills were dirty. Can’t describe how dirty this hotel is. Room doesn’t have basic things like iron, iron board, water etc. There are only 12 Channels that are all Dutch except 1 English Channel. Not kid Friendly at all. Found the staff very rude. They don’t answer you. Hotel with such cleanliness standards would be rated as 1 star in America. Also shower is very small has no proper water draining from the side and it goes on floor making it wet, there’s so shower curtain liner. Just a very thin shower curtain and water comes out through it. Unfortunately I have booked this hotel for a week and now I’m trapped here.
