Amway Grand Plaza Curio Collection by Hilton

The main plus of this hotel is the location. We were in town for a concert at Van Andel Arena and wanted to be within walking distance. I did not know until we arrived, and the concierge informed us, that there is actually a skywalk that connects this hotel to the arena (among several other destinations). This was a huge plus and super convenient for us. Overall a nice hotel, clean and quiet. They were able to accommodate early check in which we appreciated and the front desk staff were polite and helpful as was the bellhop and valet. We stayed on the historic side and though the lobby is elegant and extravagant, the bathroom was quite tiny which was a bit disappointing for the price we paid, it did not match the photos from the listing for the room I booked. No counter space at all in the bathroom and you pretty much have room to stand, and that’s about it. Certainly not room for more than one person in bathroom. But the convenience of being close to many shops, restaurants and of course the arena were well worth it. Our room had a lot of windows with natural light and a good view which was also nice. Bellhop and valet helped with luggage and check in/out was seamless.

The room was spacious. The service was wonderful. Lots of character in the rooms and through the old hotel which is cool. Great location. Easy walk to many restaurants and activities. But it's definitely not the cleanest place we have stayed. I swear I'm not snobby and don't look for dirt but it was obvious. There was dirt and hair in the corners on the bathroom floor. Black yuck on the bathroom counter and in the shower. A random hair stuck to the picture in the bathroom. Dust on the molding in the bathroom, on the baseboards, and on the lamps. We still enjoyed our stay but it's good to have your expectations in the right place.

We stayed two nights in a Tower room. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, and unlike some reviews, the bathroom had generous counter space and a very nice shower, but some of the amenities, like the door to the bathroom, fridge and AC didn’t work well and there weren’t enough outlets and no USB connections Service was very good - bell captain, valets, front desk and housekeeping staff were very helpful and Andrea checked in by text several times to see if everything was going well and quickly assisted with a small problem. The historic portion of the hotel is beautiful and the location is great - we were able to walk to restaurants.
