Guest Reviews 4.3 / 5
I was a little sceptical about my booking here (was there for the carnival for 5 days) after reading some of the reviews. However, I can't fault anything. Reception very helpful. Room was larger than expected with great views. Fridge in room with drinks and snacks (extra purchase). Beds clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Overall, the staff were lovely, all pleasant and nothing too much trouble. The location is a lot to be desired when you first arrive (solo traveller), lots of homeless, however, this is real Brazil not the tourist trap of Copacabana, and after a couple of hours there, felt as safe as anywhere in the world as long as you keep your wits about you. 25 minute Uber to Copacabana Beach. Very pleasant stay.
Rating: 2/5 We found bed bugs in our room, which was really disappointing. They did change our room, but the overall service was poor. The sauna wasn’t working even though I informed them an hour in advance as they advised. The pool was cold. On the positive side, the views were nice, the location was great, and the included breakfast was average.
I saw another review where they mentioned the only thing that was great is the location and I completely agree. The room, the breakfast and the service was not good at all. In the room the air conditioner was very old that it leaked water and there was mold because of it. Initially, I thought the bedding was just dirty but that was nothing compared to the third day. On the third day I woke up randomly only to find BED BUGS. I called the front desk so answer so the bellboy told me to go back to the front desk at 8am. When I went down there there was no sense of urgency. What really boggled me was that every day leading up to this they would clean the room and make the bed which meant house cleaning and the hotel was aware there were bed bugs and did not offer to change my room. I had them wash all my clothes in hot water to kill any possible bed bugs and THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. It took them almost 2 hours to go to my room and check it out. The breakfast was bad and there were always flies in the dinning area. Save yourself the hassle and BOOK A DIFFERENT HOTEL.
