I stayed two nights at Crowne Plaza Sapporo and overall, I liked the hotel — it’s actually quite decent. I stayed in two room types: a Premium Room (1814, 43 sqm) and a Comfort Room (1902, around 23 sqm). The Premium Room was excellent — no complaints at all. The Comfort Room was also fine: clean and comfortable, although the bathroom had a slight pipe smell. It wasn’t strong and didn’t bother me, but some guests might notice it. The room itself had no odor. The hotel currently has a rating below 4 stars on Google, but I think it deserves better. That said, I’m giving it 4 stars mainly because of a communication issue at reception. I was upgraded for one night but had to switch rooms the next day. I told reception I preferred to stay in the same room without the upgrade, but they didn’t understand, so I gave up and just changed rooms. I understand I’m in Japan, but some guests might expect better English communication at an international hotel. On the other hand, when I communicated with the hotel via email, I had no issues at all — the responses were clear and prompt. Additionally, they kindly received feedback parcels for me, which I really appreciated. Thank you for that. Would I stay again? Yes, I would.

The hotel is in a good location, airport bus shuttle at the front of hotel. However, the facilities are quite dated, the carpet had a noticeable smell, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. There was visible dust on the furniture and surfaces, which made the room feel less comfortable. While the location is a definite plus, the condition of the rooms and general upkeep could really use some improvement. With a bit of renovation and better housekeeping, this place could be much more enjoyable.
