We became Club members in 2018 and it was the best decision we ever made. This property is right next to the river with riverboat taxi service available all throughout the day. The pool is huge with plenty of seating all around. The restaurant options are varied and the breakfast buffet was a great choice for our family. As with all Anantara properties we have stayed, the accommodations are immaculate and spacious. The staff are always ready to assist with any needs and with a kind and genuine smile. Thank you!
My recent stay at Anantara Riverside in Bangkok was unfortunately rather disappointing. The property is visibly aging, with clear signs of wear and tear throughout. Room amenities were minimal and lacking, falling short compared to many other 4-star hotels in Bangkok that offer far superior accommodations. Breakfast, temporarily served at Trader Vic’s Polynesian restaurant due to the regular venue being closed, was chaotic, overcrowded, and poorly organized, significantly detracting from what should be a relaxing start to the day. Moreover, the external public areas urgently need a comprehensive refurbishment rather than mere superficial touch-ups. The attempts at repainting ugly spots simply aren’t enough to conceal the hotel’s deteriorating condition. It is clear that time has caught up with Anantara Riverside, which desperately requires significant repairs and a full-scale renovation to regain its charm and appeal. On a more positive note, the service provided by staff members was genuinely excellent, as they consistently made efforts to ensure guests felt welcomed. Additionally, the hotel’s beautiful pool area and lush gardens remain its standout features, offering a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The complimentary boat service to Sathorn BTS station was also convenient and reliable.
I made the mistake of taking out a paid Essence Club membership at this hotel that on face value provides a number of attractive benefits. Problem is, trying to use them! The process of using the vouchers is very convoluted and requires you to book everything through the Essence team, not the hotel. Not too much of a problem but it takes ages to get a reply from them! I messaged and mailed THREE different contact points before someone finally got back to me after 6 plus hours. Service 2/10. Then I tried to use a voucher that requires a 5,000 food credit to be paid to get a free night in a room. Surprise surprise “those rooms are all fully booked”. On a Sunday in low season? Yeah right. Then tried to use a voucher for a free birthday cake. Get told that it can only be booked by dining in a restaurant with a 500 bill. Checking their app and the ONLY condition that is listed is dining in a restaurant. Are staff making up their own T&C as they go along? Honestly this hotel used to be great before COVID. Since then service and quality have nose-dived and the membership scheme, rip off that they seem to go out of their way for you not to use, wouldn’t touch it with a barge-pole! Update: Pleased to get the (what looks like their standard stock copy / paste) reply to my review. They didn’t actually DO anything though. Sent an email AGAIN the next day asking for an update. 5 hours later, nothing!
