Place is clean and very pretty. It’s quite close to the city centre. Our train and bus was late, so we arrived quite late and the owner was kind enough to wait for us. I highly recommend this place.

★★☆☆☆ May 2025

We stayed here 23-26 May 2025 and the place is currently uninhabitable. The building next door is being completely renovated and the jackhammer-drilling noises go from 8am to 4.30pm during which time you cannot be in the room. There was no work on Sunday. Friday Saturday and Monday were bad. I do not know when this work will be finished, but it is not a short term project. However, the room is beautiful. It’s a relatively newly created space in a very old building and has been thoughtfully set out. Lively design touches. It’s in a wonderful area. The location is perfect, atop the edge of the valley and It’s a short walk to the old town of Matera, so no transport is needed whilst you are staying there. The instructions for check in need to be published prior to arrival, not shared on arrival. You should not drive or try to drive to the apartment, not even to drop your luggage off. It’s virtually inaccessible, and there is no parking. If you do drive in, as I did, be prepared for a difficult drive out. You have to go directly to the public car park in the next street, and park your car there. €1 and hour, €10 a day. A great safe car park. From there you have to walk your luggage the 100 metres or so (either steps of a hill are involved) to the room.
