My fiancé and I did a tour through Europe. This was the only hotel that offered a free refrigerator bar inside. The lady working there was very welcoming and tried her best. The rooms were surprisingly big and the bathroom was clean. For the price it is great. It’s no Ritz, but we enjoyed it for the price. Location was close to the metro and not much of a hassle to reach. Venice is pretty small. So location close to metro is what matters. Every tourist location can be reached with 30 minutes of walking. So don’t look at hotels to how close they are to a photo shoot location.

Very clean, the building had lovely character and rooms were better than expected for 3 -star. The area was perfect for a more authentic, quieter experience. Easy walk into rialto and great for amazing food nearby. Was a little relaxed regarding check in and out which might not suit everyone but the staff were very nice and we were allowed to leave our bags for a few hours after check out.

I accidentally booked for July 7 instead of June 7. A simple date slip. Any decent hotel with even an ounce of empathy or basic customer service would’ve helped me fix it. But not Antico Portego. Oh no. They saw a vulnerable traveler and chose to exploit me instead.offering my room to me but I’d have to pay twice plus now the price has increased. And “ sorry we don’t give refunds “ and wouldn’t change the day for me as I stood outside the door in tears Also heartbreaking the room stayed empty and available all the day I needed it. While I had no choice to stay in a local hostel which was heartbreaking alone and hurt by the heartless management of this Hotle. I arrived in Italy on June 7, ready to check in, only to be told I had booked the wrong month. When I asked to cancel, a full month in advance, giving them plenty of time to rebook the room, they flatly refused. No refund. No credit. No reschedule. No humanity. And the staff? Cold, rude, and hostile. They weren’t just unhelpful, they treated me with complete indifference, as though I were an inconvenience instead of a guest. Not once did they offer a solution or even pretend to care. The entire interaction was laced with smugness and a blatant “not our problem” attitude. To make matters worse, I’d purchased travel insurance when I booked through Orbitz but later found out that it only applies to U.S. citizens, which I’m not. So be careful to read the fine print when travel insurance is given as an option when booking. I reached out to Orbitz for help, and to their credit, they did try. But even Orbitz couldn’t pry my money from Antico Portego’s greedy little hands. There is no charm, no ambiance, and certainly no integrity in this place that justifies how appallingly I was treated. You’d get more compassion from a stone wall. 💀 Avoid this place like the plague. 💰 Unless you enjoy handing over your hard-earned money in exchange for disrespect and stone-cold indifference. 🚫 Antico Portego doesn’t deserve your booking — they deserve a permanent spot on every “never again” list in travel history.
