Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile

Such a great location, we loved the old town. Ideal for walking to shops and sites. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We felt very relaxed and comfortable. The only issue was that both dryers were out of order.

I stayed 3 nights at Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh. The rooms are nice, clean, and spacious, making them comfortable for both short and long stays. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance to major attractions and transport links. Staff are very polite and hospitable, and check-in and check-out were fast and efficient (I booked through Trip.com). However, the room has no heater, which made it quite cold in the Edinburgh weather. Noise levels were generally low, though some vehicle noise from the street could be heard. The breakfast was very poor in quality, with limited selection, and was definitely not worth paying for. I strongly recommend skipping it. There is also no daily cleaning service, which may be inconvenient for some guests during longer stays. The laundry room is also disappointing. One dryer is always out of order, and the machines are coin-operated only (GBP 3 for washing, GBP 2 for drying). It is difficult to find enough coins, so tourists are strongly advised to prepare sufficient coins in advance if they plan to use the laundry facilities. Overall, it is a good place to stay if you prioritise clean, spacious accommodation and a convenient location, but I would recommend avoiding the breakfast, preparing for laundry challenges, and being aware that daily cleaning is not provided.

The location is the only positive — very central and close to many tourist attractions. However, the overall experience at Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile was far from a 4-star standard. I would rate it 4 out of 10 at best. The most frustrating issue was the air conditioning. We booked two suites, both had serious AC problems. One suite was constantly warm with no airflow, and the other had an AC unit that shut off automatically at night and didn’t cool properly when on. I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep during our 3-night stay. When I reported the issue to reception, they sent a technician who falsely claimed that the AC malfunctioned because we set it to 18°C — an absurd excuse that doesn’t justify the poor performance. Cleanliness was another major concern. At check-in, we found the toilet used and unflushed, and a large tin of chips left on the window — clearly leftovers from a previous guest. Reporting this to reception led to no action. Most staff members were indifferent, with only a few being polite or helpful. Additionally, the laundry facilities were in poor condition: the washing machines didn’t clean properly, and the dryer was out of service. This hotel does not live up to its rating or brand reputation. I would not recommend it and will definitely avoid staying at this or any of its sister properties in the future.
