Araucaria Hotel & Spa

Just spent 9 days at Araucaria Hotel with our family of 5. What a gem of a hotel. Usually we stay in a chalet but this hotel was not only amazing but provided value for money too. The kids loved the lounge/entertainment area with free candy and popcorn and we also loved the complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate station in the lounge. The sauna and steam room were also such wonderful facilities at the hotel. Staff were amazing and helpful, they always helped carry our skis up and down the stairs from the ski room and the restaurant staff were incredible. The buffet dinners were sensational - so much variety to choose from. The hotel is right near the ski lifts (as well as restaurants) so it is definitely a perfect choice in terms of location. The town centre is just a couple hundred metres away so you can hire ski equipment from there if you like. We hired from Skiset but the hotel sems to offer a great choice of skis and snowboards as well. Sometimes we had dinner at the restaurant because the kids were tired and sometimes we had dinner in town. There are so many cute and cosy restaurants to try. I definitely recommend doing a fondue evening - our kids LOVED this! The Croq-Neige was our favourite place for lunches and hot chocolates as the staff were friendly, the service ultra-fast and the food was tasty and good value for money. There are ski schools 200m from the hotel - Oxygen and ESF so you are sorted in that department. We did so much research as to where to stay - La Plagne Centre, Bellecote, La plagne 1800, Belle Plagne and even Les Arcs, but I can tell you now that La Plagne Centre and specifically staying at the Araucaria Hotel were the best choices. The only 2 recommendations for the hotel would be to put more hooks in the rooms for all the ski jackets etc and to vary the buffet breakfast from day to day so that it is not exactly the same every day). We stayed at this fantastic hotel with really lovely staff and great food last winter! It was my dad's birthday and they prepared a delicious cake at our request and the manager (Thanks, Nessy!) treated us to free drinks on the house! All the staff are brilliant and remembered our name :) We are going back again this winter because we loved it so much!

We had a fabulous stay at Arucaria. Classic sized ski hotel room (i.e. cosy for two adults and one child) but recently renovated to a high specification. Great spa facilities (pool, steam room, ice room, sauna) and my wife tells me her massage was very good! Food is decent if not incredible, well stocked buffets with tasty options. Raclette night was a winner! Bar is excellent with knowledgeable and hard working cocktail barmen and the kids play area right next to the bar, including arcades and a mini cinema is great. Special shout out to the fabulous guys in the ski hire area downstairs - super helpful, always there with a smile to help you carry your kit. A real credit to the Hotel.
