⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a wonderful stay at Arawa Park Hotel in Rotorua! The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The view overlooking the racecourse was spellbinding. The location is excellent—quiet and peaceful, yet close to Rotorua’s main attractions, shops, and restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay, making sure everything was perfect. I also enjoyed the on-site dining options, and the breakfast was fresh with plenty of choices. Food was exceptional, every single day we stayed. What really stood out was the relaxing atmosphere—perfect for a getaway. The hotel has ample parking, and the lobby and common areas are beautifully maintained. Highly recommend Arawa Park Hotel if you're visiting Rotorua—whether for a family trip, a weekend escape, or a business stay. Would love to return again!
This is a large hotel trying to become relevant in a “depressed” market. The Hotel had obviously been neglected in respect of upgrades and modernization for a considerable period of time. Upgrades are ongoing. It was nice that we received an upgrade, as you would expect in a way when the industry is quiet (there’s no real cost in doing so with a greater potential upside). The bed was very comfortable, the room was big and clean however on the “bleak” side with nothing on the walls. Furniture a bit dated. The shower wash dispenser was either empty or did not work. For the money it was good value. Had included a $25 food/beverage voucher, nice incentive however, a dble rum (coruba) and coke (1 can) was $24! That’s half a bottle of Coruba at the local liquor store. Maybe they got that wrong, despite me questioning it, however, they have to make a buck to survive. We did not eat in the restaurant.
My overall experience was horrible, not even 2 hours in. There was a spider squished between my pillow. There was crumbs on my bedsheets, they looked it hadn’t been changed. The bathrooms are outdated and there is mould growing. Other than that the rooms are spacious and the lobby is beautiful.
