At one evening, surprisingly police with the hotel staff visited us. Language is the major barrier. We were unable to explain the police. It was duty of the hotel management to deal with the Police
I stayed here for 3 months. The price is kind of outrageous once you learn the city, and you'll be able to find a great apartment for much cheaper. The hotel room is nice but the WIFI is not fast enough for streaming or downloading anything and it cuts out randomly. The hotel requires a deposit every 30 days, which is annoying and they'll lock you out of your room if you forget to go down and let them swipe your card. Once they barged into my room and demanded I inventory the entire room with them. I had to literally walk around the room and document every mug, hanger, and towel with an attendant for 30 minutes until he left. When you're staying for an extended period I'd look somewhere else. For a short stay it might be OK if you need to stay in this neighborhood.
I arrived 7 months pregnant; their economical rooms are "health beds" without padding. After two sleepless nights, I asked to upgrade my room to one of the suites I stayed in previously that had softer beds. The service desk insisted all the beds were the same. They had better suites available for two nights, but I wouldn't be allowed to stay in them because my trip was longer than two nights. The manager also refused; telling me to sleep on pillows (I did try this earlier, and it didn't work). He also said my entire trip had to be booked in the same room, I couldn't even book ONE night in an upgraded suite. It's already dark, heavy rain; I had to walk myself and my suitcase out into the street (all taxis taken due to the bad weather). Despite not providing any sleep for two nights, they made me pay for the third night (that I didn't even use) because it was already past 6pm. I had no idea where I was going to go. It was such a traumatic experience, I finally decided to write this review. I had to call my boss, and travel via subway to a different hotel (with MUCH more comfortable beds). Take your business to Park Plaza Hotel instead of Ariva; if you care about how hotels should treat their customers. It took me three years to finally decide to write this review; I hope I never have to think of Ariva again in my life.
