Absolutely enjoyed our time here! Pools felt great (sad that one of the visitors stole the basketball for the pool) Me and my partner absolutely loved our few times being here. Especially when they accommodated pretty quickly to my others request for a big bathtub and a lower level room because of his disabilities. Will be coming back again and again when we need time away to ourselves!
I REALLY wanted to love this place as much as we did the first time we stayed here. But, boy, did they make it tough! My husband had major surgery and is recovering, we had appointments, and wanted a quiet place to relax in between. But what did we get? A room with AC that didn't work on night one, in JULY! I let it go and called first thing in the morning. No one came. Six hours later, I called again, and 'engineering' came and changed the filters. Two hours later, it was still 85 degrees in our room! Call number three, and a new guy comes with a young man he's (training?) changes the battery in the thermostat, and says 'It should cool down in 15 minutes.' An hour later, it was still 86 degrees! Call AGAIN, and finally, they offered us another room. We packed up, headed to the office, picked up new keys, and got a new room. And, guess what? The AC worked great! But, wait, there's more! The neighbor had barking dogs that went off every time we moved. We got my husband settled, tried to sleep, and were awakened at 5:30 am by the dogs. So much for rest, healing, or relaxing!
This westgate hotel leaves something to be desired. I called several times the week before our stay to request a certain room. Our room request was not honored. Not only was it not honored, but we were placed in a room directly above the house keeping and activity center area. Every morning at 7am facility staff started work and were not quiet, which meant sleeping in was impossible. We arrived for check in at 7pm, normal check in is at 4pm. Our room was not ready and we had to wait for an available room. The floors in our villa were filthy. I bought a mop at Walmart and mopped them myself. The room was cheaply redone (several things were broken) and the jacuzzi bathtubs have all been removed in the renovated rooms. Showers only. The fountain in the front that the resort boasts of in pictures is broken, the hot tub jets are broken at the hottub located next to the pool. Staff at check in was not helpful, understanding, or apologetic that the room was still not ready. We are regulars at resorts, and have stayed at many different resorts in the phoenix area. This is by far the worst experience we have had. If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep, this would be OK. If your looking for a family friendly place to vacation, don't stay here.
